State of the Union Address

I have been watching The State of the Union Address. As a Baha'i I cannot become involved in political debates so I really haven't been paying attention to the issues on the floor. I am pretty lost right now but I am finding somethings out. I can see why things don't get done well or in a timely fashion because there is so much disunity amongst the House, Senate, Congress, President and so on. No one seems willing to get to a truth that most people can agree on but would rather hold on to their own opinions and ideas. This disunity spills over into the American and International public and then no one knows the truth or is looking to find a truth. How can there be true justice without truth and understanding? This my disclaimer before I write on a couple of subjects that caught my attention before I changed the channel:

I agree with not giving up on the efforts in Iraq. I think it is vcry important. I do wonder if there are other ways to go about finding out who the suspected-supporters/supporters are here and abroad without having to track private conversations via phone or internet. If the people who were making these decisions would consult frankly, lovingly and humbly I think that better decisions could be made. Yeah, I know that some folks may find that idealist but it is funny the things people find idealist. The truth being that the aggressive, arrogant, egotistcal reality isn't helping matters. Why not try being idealist and logical for once? It couldn't hurt.

I agree with tax cuts that could be helpful to future generations but are those tax cuts helpful to the rich or the poor? Does it change the financial reality of those living so close to the poverty line that they could draw it in the sand and see that sand turn into cement? I mean if you aren't making enough money to see the positive impact than what good are the cuts? It seems that if the rich are able to keep more of the money they are amassing at a grotesquely massive level, then how do the tax cuts help future generations...if only for the rich offspring?

Yeah, that is about all I watched cause I got tired of watching the battle between the "sides" and hearing generalized statements that had very little truth brought to light. I will get online and get more info though. Just cause I won't be involved in debates doesn't mean I shouldn't know what is going on..maybe offer solutions based on the principles of the Baha'i Faith.
